Public Education Request

Guidlines:

  • Tours and event participation are provided for residents of the Denton County ESD #1 or those that belong to an organization within the community
  • Public Education requests, including fire station tours, and birthday parties require at least a two-week advance notice. This allows for the processing time required for your request. Today’s fire department is a busy place even when not responding to emergency calls. The day-to-day schedule is very full with the various functions required of a modern fire department. Requests with less then a two-week notice are not able to be processed
  • Although time has been scheduled for your tour or event, the crew may be called to respond to an emergency. In the event the crew is called away, we will be happy to reschedule for another day
If you are requesting a Station Tour:
  • Please remember that you are visiting an active, in-service fire station and will be briefed on a safe place to gather your group in the event that the crew is called out on an emergency
  • Groups shall consist of no more than 25 people, including necessary chaperones (1 adult for 4 children under the age of 12). Children shall be at least 4 years of age
If you are requesting a School Visit or Special Event:
  • At event participation, the Fire Apparatus must be located in a position that will facilitate a safe and expedient response in case the crew is called to respond to an emergency
Birthday Parties
  • Parties are available free of charge to parents (or grandparents) who live within the Fire District
  • Birthday parties are scheduled only on Saturdays that are available from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m
  • Birthday parties are only held at Station 511 (865 S Gibbons Rd) in the training room due to unsecured areas and potential carcinogen exposure due to Truck exhaust
  • Minimum age for birthday boy/girl is “turning 5”
  • Maximum number of children allowed is 20. This count includes all children who will be participating in the party
  • We require one adult to supervise every three children that are attending the party
  • A member of the Fire District will be present to assist if the crew should need to leave for an emergency call
  • All children and adults must report to a designated area if an emergency call comes in. Our crew must complete a head count to assure everyone is accounted for prior to the crew leaving
  • Recommended arrival time for set up is 20 minutes prior to the party start time, but NO earlier than 9:30 a.m.
  • All children will wear a name tag that will include their parent's names and contact numbers
  • The Party host will need to make the Fire District staff aware of any children that have or require special needs i.e.: medical issues such as food allergies or asthma, physical impairments and/or disabilities, and any one that may need extra attention
  • Most of our tables are 3.5 feet wide and 10 feet long if you wish to bring table covers
  • Party host brings ALL paper/plastic products including plates, napkins, and utensils
  • You are welcome to bring cake, cookies, and other prepared food. (No food preparation is allowed in the station kitchen.)
  • Pizza can be ordered, make sure the pizza delivery person is provided the fire station number and also the address with the cross street information to avoid any delivery problems. We recommend you schedule pizza delivery for 11 a.m.
  • Keep decorations simple i.e. balloons, banners, candles, table top décor, etc. NO confetti allowed
  • No outside vendors (i.e. clowns, bounce houses, or game trucks) are allowed
  • We require parents to control their children by not allowing them to freely climb on equipment or wander throughout the Fire House
  • The Fire District provides brooms and trash bags for clean up. The Party host will be responsible for clean up. We respectfully ask that you leave the party area as clean as when you arrived
  • Children have to be supervised at all times during the party either by their parent(s) or the party host
  • Please arrange for all party attendees to be picked up no later than 12:00 p.m.
  • Finally, your child’s Birthday Party is being held at a working Fire Station. The Fire Station is where our employees work and live. We kindly ask that you and the birthday party attendees have respect for the Firefighter’s work and home environment
  • No alcohol, firearms, or dangerous material will be allowed in the facilities or in vehicles parked on the Fire District Property
  • Denton County ESD #1 takes no responsibility for accidents to participants
